The fisheries faculty was established to provide training in all aspects of fisheries management and technology. The fisheries programme at BMFA is governed by the academic rules prescribed under international standards. The programme is spread over a period of four years, structured into eight semesters. Candidates wishing to follow the path of fisheries training must have a secondary certificate with good grades in English, mathematics and science.
