MSc. Abdiqani Mohamed Khayre
Presently I occupy the position of President of the Berbera Maritime and Fisheries Academy (BMFA) in Berbera, Somaliland and have occupied this position since December 2015. Prior to my current position, I was engaged as a Consultant at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources in Somaliland. In addition, over the past 25 years I have successfully worked in various management positions for a variety of governmental institutions and on NGO projects in different management grade capacities. During my years in Sweden, I worked in the Swedish public sector principally in the administration and organizational planning units being responsible for, inter alia, retirement payments for 150 Swedish pensioners.
I possess an MSc in Port and Shipping Administration (PSA92) obtained during 1991-1992 from the World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden. I also possess a BSc in Accounting and Management obtained in 1986-1987 from the Somali Institute of Development Administration and Management. (SIDAM), Mogadishu, Somalia. Furthermore, I have attended courses funded by the EU Cape Nestor and IMO for Maritime Authority Administrations (MAA) covering Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping (STCW) for seafarers and Port State control (PSC) in Addis Ababa and Djibouti respectively. I am flexible in my approach to problem solving- both as a manager and in a team environment.
